2. General information

The handset can be separated from the connection box and used as a digital controller for the ACD
dicon digital system.
The ACD dual is a complete replacement for the previous resistor-based
devices. Instead of changing the series resistor, the ACD dual controls the
output voltage to the motor according to the PWM principle (Pulse Width Modulation).
The PWM mode of operation enables a different type of braking. The so-called regenerative
braking was previously activated by connecting load resistors or by a
short circuit at the trigger zero point. The resistor / short circuit then loaded the
motor accordingly and thus achieved a braking effect. The smaller the
resistance value, the greater the braking effect. The
braking effect is highest at the short circuit.
The ACD dual works differently at this point: The braking energy is not converted into warm
energy but is fed back to the power supply unit.

The braking effect begins as soon as the speed is reduced for the first time. The
means that the motor is immediately braked to the new lower speed. In practice, this
is noticeable in that the motor speed always follows the trigger position
immediately. The motor is force-guided, so to speak.
The braking effect can be adjusted using the brake adjuster. This allows the
behavior to be adapted to your own taste.
Overall, the ACD dual offers better acceleration when starting and better
braking when cornering. By making optimum use of these properties, the ACD
dual helps to achieve shorter lap times.
However, the braking mode on the ACD dual can be changed and it behaves like the
traditional mechanical controllers and only brakes at the zero position of the trigger

3. technology

Connection box
Operating voltage: 7 to 22V
Continuous current: 10A
Max peak current: 30A
The peak current should be viewed as a pulse. This corresponds to the starting current of a motor. The
device can handle more current. However, if the peak current is reached or exceeded very frequently, this can lead to problems.
Polarity: positive, negative switchable via switch
If this switch is in the wrong position, the vehicle can drive off immediately. Please observe the corresponding instructions at

Fuses: FKS fuses (automotive flat fuse)
Display: Red LED lights up or flashes in the event of a fault, otherwise it is off.
Connections: German version for positive control

Red + cable (power) corresponds to white in the USA
Black " cable (break) corresponds to red in the USA
Yellow Motor (wiper) corresponds to black in the USA

Hand-held unit
Connection Spiral cable pluggable with RJ connector
Control elements:
- Potentiometer (red cap) Braking effect
- Potentiometer (gray or black cap) Starting speed
- Potentiometer (axle only) Max. Speed (choke) Always turn up fully!!!
- 2 Changeover switch For setting the trigger characteristic curve
