The standard vehicles - unfortunately it has to be said - don't really have anything to do with slot racing. Crooked axles, crooked rims, bad motors and magnets that are installed at will make driving for the ambitious slot racer not exactly fun. 95% of the users are satisfied with it and that's the way it should be. The manufacturer refers here to "children's toys". However, if we want to measure ourselves against others and become a little more professional, we have to go into the tuning area.
As with a big car, the engine isn't everything. Tires are at least as important.
Straight axles and rims complete the whole thing. If you want, you can also refine it with ball bearings.

And that's how it's done. The starting point is a Carrera Digital 124 Sidewinder model (engine is positioned across the vehicle) Required accessories: Phillips screwdriver and 1.5mm Allen key (both are of course also available in the shop)

rear axle :

Depending on the width of the model, please use hardened steel axles here. Rule of thumb: Measure the width of the Carrera axle (incl. rims) -1cm = required axle width. The rule here is a little more, we can always shorten it, unfortunately we can't patch it...)

Unfortunately, we are tied to Carrera in terms of translation, which means we always need it in the combination
60 teeth (standard here - except for the M1 - is the translation of 10/50, i.e. 10 teeth motor pinion and 50 teeth axle pinion.) Everything else can also be combined, but we always have to come back to 60 teeth. (11/49 12/48 13/47 14/46 15/45 etc)

Gears can be found here:

the pinion gears are here:

Please note that the plastic motor pineons can be pressed on by hand, all other materials require a special tool. This also applies to removing the old, existing sprockets. Please do not try it yourself with pliers/vise and hammer, you can then dispose of the motor directly and buy a new one from us.
Important: The sprockets belong back in the bin after being pulled off and not in the slot case, as they expand when they are pressed on and can therefore only be used once.

Professional crimping tools are available here:

For smooth, quiet running, we still need the new rear axle holder and two ball bearings (please order 2)

The rims and tires:

The simplest combo is ProComp from Scaleauto (rim with foam rubber tires) but foam rubber only develops grip if the track gets a coating of it. for the first 100-200 laps you'll think what the heck he was selling me. After 500-1000 laps, when the track starts to get grip and the dust is off the track, the grin will get bigger and you will understand me. It is important for this that the track is dust-free (remove the tires in between with double-sided adhesive tape). If the tires are not used for a long time, you should store them in an old film can to prevent them from hardening.

Rear : SC2421P-Scaleauto

Alternatively, the combination of aluminum rims Scaleauto + tires. Hard for the front, Ortmann tires for the rear.

guide keel

The guide keel from Frankenslot is recommended here, as in contrast to the Carrera digital guide keels, it does not fall off constantly even after prolonged use and thus ends the race.

Alternatively, the king's way with a swing arm (please pay attention to the different versions)

Achsdistanzen

Axle distances for aligning the axles can be found here:

https://www.jaspeed.com/Achsdistanzen-Stellringe

With the axle distances we set the fine play of the axle. These parts belong in every slot case.
Engine:

Everyone has different preferences here. To recommend a motor for all tracks and all slot racers would be nonsense. Some other dealers import engines from China and of course also recommend them, because they make the most money here :-) We only take some from large series manufacturers (but they also come from China :-)

Plafit's bison makes sense:

Lubricants:

Well-oiled motors (only the shaft, not the whole motor) run faster and more smoothly.
In our shop you will find a lot of different oils. Look for a needle on the bottle so you can get to the areas to be oiled more easily.

The gears are lubricated with a ceramic grease, oil would be on the track in the next curve. Tamiya gear grease has proven to be particularly suitable here.

The tires can be cleaned perfectly with the tire cleaner from Scaleauto (foam rubber and rubber)
